Creditinfo VoLo is pleased to announce the result of the recent consultation launched by the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) about the establishment of a private credit bureau (PCB) within the eight (8) member states of West African Monetary Union (WAMU). BCEAO issued a tender for the selection of a strategic and technologic investor on the 29th of April 2014 in order to create, operate and manage a regional private credit reporting system that meets the international standards for the eight (8) member states of WAMU. Creditinfo supports PEFINDO Biro Kredit to become the largest Credit Bureau in Indonesia

Having obtained a principal license last August, the Indonesian biggest and oldest credit rating agency, PT Pemeringkat Efek Indonesia  (PEFINDO), recently announced their expectation to obtain an operating permit for its subsidiary, PT PEFINDO Biro Kredit (PEFINDO Credit Bureau), to operate as a Credit Information Management Bureau (LPIP). The issuing government authority, Financial Services Authority (OJK), will hopefully issue the licence in the second half of 2015.

After an extensive selection process, PEFINDO Biro Kredit has signed an exclusive long term partnership contract with Creditinfo earlier this month to provide a credit bureau solution and support of their Credit Bureau operations.  Creditinfo will provide PEFINDO Biro Kredit with its modular credit bureau solution, CBS5.  PEFINDO’s President Director, Ronald T Andi Kasim explained, “The company (PEFINDO Credit Bureau) will provide more comprehensive credit-risk profiles of debtors and credit-rating information about individuals to banks and other financing bodies, utilising the credit-rating information system provided and practiced by Creditinfo. We are currently preparing the company’s IT system and human resources, which are expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year.  Afterwards, we expect to obtain the permit in the second quarter of next year, so that operations can be started in the third quarter.” Continue reading »

“Queen of the Slum” visits Creditinfo Iceland

Lucy Odipo, better known to most as “Mama Lucy” or the “Queen of the Slum”, is a truly amazing woman. Mrs. Odipo is the initial founder of The Little Bees Children Self Help Group and currently serves as Director. A Kenyan national, Mrs. Odipo has played a vital role in establishing vital projects in Nairobi, such as The Little Bees School a Nursery School & Daycare to provide critical care and support for deprived children.. Through the school and related projects , Mrs.Odipo and her team provide much needed education and help to individuals and families to access medical care and to secure shelter.

Lucy lives amongst the 500,000 inhabitants of the slums of Mathare in Nairobi, Kenya. Most of the people live in tiny, one-room homes made from whatever materials they can find. Conditions are dismal with sewage and trash flowing through the streets along with crime, sickness and death running rampant. There are no government services like water or electricity. Brynja on the run in Berlin

brynjaCongratulations to Brynja Baldursdottir, Head of Sales and Product Development, Creditinfo Iceland. 

Brynja recently ran the Berlin Marathon finishing in just 4 hours and 3 minutes.   She was so fast that the winner got scared and set a new world record in a marathon.  At a course know for producing fast times, Kenyan runner Dennis Kimetto ran 26.2 miles a full 26 seconds faster than ever before with a time of 2 hours, 2 minutes and 37 seconds.   Way to go, Brynja!

Introduction to Credit Risk Management: Realizing the Benefits of Credit Bureau Data

This two (2) days training program is designed for bankers, microfinance and other professionals responsible for maintaining top quality loan portfolios, identifying risk management opportunities and designing financial solutions for clients in a new and evolving international credit environment.

The Training will be taking place on the 21st & 22nd October 2014 or 23rd & 24th October 2014 at Ledger Plza – Bahari Beach Hotel.

There is widespread agreement particularly amongst regulators that financial institutions need to rethink credit policies, procedures, and risks they are taking.

The workshop will provide knowledge and support to members of credit risk and operational management team to better understand the developments in Tanzania with the credit information sharing initiative.

The workshop will cover the concepts behind credit bureaus, and how businesses can use this data to improve the quality of lending, both in terms of e‑ciency and quality. The workshop will also cover the fundamental concepts of application processing and utilzation of the credit bureau reports.

It will also present an excellent networking opportunity for attendees to share ideas about their own challenges and best practice.

check my scoreCreditinfo Lithuania developed a social credit score that predicts credit risk by user‘s data from Facebook.  The score depends generally from profile information, activity, communication culture and friends information.
