Key Findings from the World Bank
The World Bank gave some key findings at the BNM-IFC Credit Infrastructure conference

Key Findings:
- Increased access to finance results in increased job growth in developing countries
- Firms with access to a loan exhibit employment growth between 1 and 3 percentage points larger than firms with no access to finance
- Introduction of credit bureaus (CBs) increases employment growth by over 5 percentage points compared to countries where CBs do not exist
- Association between finance and job growth is stronger among MSMEs than among large firms
- MSME firms with access to a loan have between a 1 and 4 percentage point larger employment growth than MSMEs without a loan
- Introduction of CBs elicits a job growth response among MSMEs that is over six times larger than that among large firms

New name for Czech Republic
After 27 years the Czech President, Prime Minister and the other top country officials have finally agreed that not having a one word name for the country and using Czech Republic instead is too long. They asked the United Nations to officially recognize “Czechia” as an alternative country name. Together with this demand they also asked it for other foreign-language equivalents, such as la Tchéquie in French. So, they finally took the name which existed already in the 18th century and made it a one word name for the country. Now we can call them “Czechia” in casual communication!

Player of the Month
CAMAR WILLIAMS
Camar Williams, Sales and Marketing Manager, Creditinfo Jamaica has successfully pulled off 2 very big events at the end of April, a four day Jamaica business expo and also the launch of Creditinfo Predictor for 80 top members of financial institutions. Every detail was meticulously taken care of personally by Camar. Unfortunately he had one night with no sleep in order to finalise a few last minute requests, which is in addition to working long hours in the run up to these events due time differences and additional requirements. However, he was justly rewarded with both events running without a hitch. We have also heard in addition to his dedication and professionalism, he is also very popular with both clients as well as his colleagues, as when visiting client’s building he was smothered with kisses every 5 minutes!
Congratulations, Camar!
Almar's Monthly – The secrets from the science of Persuasion
This month I would like you to take 15 minutes out of your daily routine to watch a video.
In this video, called “Secrets From the Science of Persuasion”, Robert Cialdini and Steve Martin, from Influence At Work have put together six universal principles (or shortcuts) and how they relate to collaboration. We all have to work in collaborative groups and with other people where there are often differing opinions. This video will help you in persuading others toward the validity of your advice and opinions. What are the hurdles you have to cross when trying to be collaborative? What successes have you had in bringing together different people in a collaborative effort? The video (and there’s a book too) offers many validated statistics to demonstrate the results of each shortcut.
So the next time you pull together a team of experts to better your business, keep in mind the different persuasive techniques and how to employ them to reach a perfect collaboration.
Regards,
Almar

On April 14th 2016, Creditinfo and vice-governor of Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe signed a contract for the delivery of Creditinfo’s Credit Bureau Solution, CB5. Communication and negotiation took place over a number of months throughout 3 key tender applications. The CB5 system will be used by 18 banks, 120 MFIs and also 4 Public Credit Bureaus currently operating in Zimbabwe. The most challenging part of this contract is delivery time, with just 12 weeks from implementation to live launch. Radek Bittner (Sales), Tomáš Tichý (Business Consultant) and Michal Dostál (Project Manager) were the 3 man delegation who visited Harare for the finalisation of the contract agreement and who delivered the 1st project Workshop for customisation of system parameters.

Reynir & Almar
Good shoes take you to good places
On a business trip to Senegal, Reynir forgot to take his shoes. As it wont do to go to the Central Bank in sneakers, he asked one of the assistants at VoLo if she could help him out, giving her $50 to find him some shoes. Which she did! Reynir says these are his best shoes still, after almost 2 years. Here you can see Reynir putting on those shoes which he has taken to other important meetings worldwide.

Players of the month – Creditinfo Leaders
Some time ago, I was talking about my boss with a colleague. I was actually being quite complimentary. I told her I enjoyed working for him and the company and was explaining why and telling her that I really liked my job. The person I was telling, who is a senior boss herself, asked me if i had ever told him what I think. “Of course not,” I declared, he’d stick his fingers down his throat and pretend to gag and then probably laugh.” Then she asked me if I appreciated it when I got a “pat on the back” and got to know if I was doing a good job. “Yes, of course” I replied. Then she asked, “well, don’t you think he’d appreciate knowing it too?” Since then, I try to remember to tell him from time to time.
